Renovation of Athens Hotel owned by Ionian Hotel Enterprises S.A.

The erection of the Hotel (currently managed as a Hilton Hotel) took place during the period between 1958 and 1963.  The hotel was designed by a team of Greek architects including Emmanuel Vourekas, Prokopis Vasileiadis, Anthony Georgiades and Spyro Staikos. Artist Yiannis Moralis, inspired by Greek themes, designed the reliefs of the building’s façade. A combination of classical and modernist elements are incorporated into the hotel’s exterior.

Its symbolic significance was a monumental architecture model in Greece and one of the very few landmarks of the Athens in 20th century. The hotel consists of a complex of buildings with a build-up area of 55,000 m2. The hotel officially opened on April 20th, 1963, as Athens' first international chain hotel. Conrad Hilton was present at the opening ceremony along with other guests from the Greek and International jet set. Following the acquisition of Ionian Hotels, the new owner of the Athens hotel, is planning a renovation project including the provision of luxurious tourism accommodation for high-income guests at the emblematic hotel as well as new products and services. The planned renovation will reposition it as the new toponym of 21st century Athens.

SALFO and Associates SA is proud to have been awarded the project management and supervision of the aforesaid renovation of the Hotel Renovation Project. The estimated duration of the services is 45 months including the procurement of designers and contractors, design review, construction supervision and support during commissioning and initial operation of the hotel until final handing over.
