SALFO provided Construction Management and Quality Management Services to the Ministry of Public Works for the New Acropolis Museum in Athens. The New Archeological Museum of Acropolis was constructed within a square block surrounded by the streets: D. Aeropayitou, Makriyianni, Hatzichristou, and Mitsaion,. covering an area of 21.003 m2. The Museum consists of 2 areas (which are separated with antiseismic joints), which are the following:
a. The Museum's main building that consists of 9 levels and covers a total area of 22.000m2.
b. The roofed entrance-ramp and the canopy of the entrance from D. Aeropagitou str.
The main building is constructed of reinforced concrete, whilst the Parthenon Hall's bearing structure within the building is metallic. The outline of the building is made of crystal panels with special specifications. Special insulation systems, air conditioning, fire protection, special lighting etc were also installed.
The 8 levels of the main building include the following:
Level +4: Mezzanine with air conditioning installations,
Level +3: Parthenon Floor,
Level +2: Semi-level restaurant,
Level +1: Hall of Archaics, Level +0: Lectures and Projections Hall,
Level -1: Administration Offices, Amphitheatre,kitchen, excavation area,
Level -2: Offices, Laboratories, Archaics storage rooms, electrical installations (generator room),
Level -3: Garage, Boiler – room,
Level -4: Mechanical equipment, tanks.
