Salfo & Associates was awarded by NDIA the contract for the Construction Management / Supervision of the North/South Extensions to Ras Abu Abboud Road Project.
Ras Abu Abboud Road is the main access carriageway to New Doha International Airport. The New Doha International Airport will provide state-of-the art facilities and will support unconstrained A380 aircraft operations. At the opening day which it is expected to be in the year of 2009 will provide: sized to meet a demand of 24 million passengers per annum, 40 contact gates and 12 remote stands for a total of 52 aircraft positions, two N/S runways (4850m and 4250m long) and all the facilities will be designed to preserve area for future expansion.
North Extension: The North Extension of the Ras Abu Abboud Road starts at the intersection of the Ras Abu Abboud Road with the C Ring Road and Al Corniche Road and extends up to the Naval Base intersection in zone 49. The North Extension consists of a dual 4-lane carriageway providing for uninterrupted traffic flow including associated service road networks that extends from approximately 680m northwest of the existing Naval Base entrance road junction to C Ring Road/Al Corniche Street junction, a length of approximately 2.4 km. An underpass is proposed for through traffic on RAAR generally between the existing Naval Base entrance road junction and the Oasis Hotel. Proposed upgrading works to the RAAR junction with C Ring Rd and Al Corniche Street include reconstruction of the existing roundabout junction to a signalized intersection, construction of a tunnel from Al Corniche Street to RAAR providing a free flow directional link, and reconstructing the existing dual 2-Iane bridge to a dual 3-lane bridge.
South Extension: The South Extension encompasses a link between the proposed new Terminal Interchange and the proposed new Al-Matar Interchange. The South Extension consists of a dual 4 lane carriageway providing for un interrupted traffic flow. Overall length of the South Extension is approximately 600m.
