Setec TPI S.A. in collaboration with SALFO & Associates has undertaken the Contract of the Independent Engineer for the Concession project “Design -Construction – Financing – Operation – Maintenance and Exploitation of the Elefsina-Korinthos-Patra-Pyrgos-Tsakona (North-West Peloponnese Axis) Motorway. The Concession Agreement of this DBFO project which is the largest of its kind in Greece, has been established between the Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works of Greece and the Concessionaire “Apion Kleos S.A” that has undertaken the management and operation of the Motorway for 30 years.
The Project, that the Concessionaire undertakes to design, finance, construct and operate, includes new road sections of an approximate length of 120 Km (Korinthos – Patra section) and upgrading of existing road sections of 81 km (Elefsina – Korinthos and Patras by Pass sections). The new segments will be constructed of 26,5m to 28m width with 2 lanes plus emergency lane per direction and will be consisted of bridges (with piles up to 35m depth), tunnels, lane covers, cut & covers and interchanges. The new alignment lies mainly in parallel or crosses with the New High Speed Railway Line, which is also under construction, bypassing urban and residential areas in the North Peloponnese through a very difficult ground terrain with very soft and unstable underground conditions.
The overall construction program includes 48 bridges, 24 overpasses, 126 underpasses, 12 cut & covers, lane covers, 12 Tunnels (constructed with NATM method), 14 tolls (5 mainline and 9 lateral), 421 Retaining walls and 155 Culverts
The overall cost for the completion and operation of the Motorway, is estimated to reach approximately 1.3 billion Euros.
